Description:

Salt Lake County is seeking an exceptional leader for the cabinet-level role of Director of Regional Development. This position oversees a multidisciplinary portfolio, including Regional Planning & Transportation, Economic Development, Housing & Community Development, Environmental Services, and Canyon Management. Reporting directly to the Mayor’s Executive Cabinet, the Director will lead a high-performing team and drive strategic policy and investment initiatives across a fast-growing county.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead strategic initiatives shaping the future of Salt Lake County

• Oversee Regional Planning & Transportation, Economic Development, Housing & Community Development, Environmental Services, and Canyon Management

• Provide operational management and guidance to a high-performing team

• Build coalitions and influence intergovernmental partnerships

• Navigate political and cross-sector complexities to implement long-term strategies

• Ensure equity-driven development and commitment to public service

Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities:

• Strategic, long-range planning mindset

• Strong leadership and operational management skills

• Expertise in public policy, urban planning, economic development, or related field

• Proven ability to manage cross-sector initiatives and partnerships

Compensation & Benefits:

• Annual salary: 140000–176000 USD
