Embedded Systems Architect

 

Description:

Actalent is seeking a highly experienced Embedded Systems and Controls Architect to lead the development, design, integration, and testing of advanced high-power processing solutions across diverse technology areas, including high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, high-energy laser systems, battery systems, aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, small satellites, nuclear thermal propulsion, optical beam pointing and control, and signal/image processing.

This senior-level position involves technical leadership, strategic planning, and multi-year project development, while representing the company as a prime technical contact on high-impact contracts and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical controls and embedded systems architecture solutions for cutting-edge projects.

  • Perform detailed engineering analyses of systems and circuits, document findings, and communicate results to engineering and program management teams.

  • Deliver technical presentations and manage schedules for technical initiatives.

  • Provide leadership and oversight for project teams, including mentoring less experienced staff.

  • Formulate multi-year technical and business plans and oversee solutions development and deployment.

  • Ensure proper integration, documentation, testing, maintenance, and updates for engineering solutions.

  • Plan for future applications based on emerging engineering technologies.

  • Drive business development by expanding existing opportunities and creating new ones.

  • Act as a key technical liaison for external stakeholders on major projects.


Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in embedded systems development (processor, microcontroller, FPGA).

  • Proficiency in mixed-signal circuit design (analog/digital).

  • Expertise in digital, analog, RF, and optical hardware system design and implementation.

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.

  • Significant progressive engineering experience:

    • 15+ years with a Bachelor’s degree

    • 13+ years with a Master’s degree

    • 10+ years with a PhD

  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual salary: $130000 – $210000 (approximately $10833 – $17500 monthly).

Work Environment:

  • Fully on-site position in Poway, California.
