Description:
Qualus, a leading power services and engineering firm driving the energy transition and grid modernization across North America, is seeking an Engineer III – Electrical to join its team in Akron, Ohio. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional to work on advanced power system studies, deliver innovative energy solutions, and collaborate with diverse teams across geographies.
The selected candidate will perform and lead short circuit and equipment evaluation, arc flash, load flow, power quality, harmonic analysis, and system coordination studies, ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes and client satisfaction.
Conduct short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software.
Apply expertise in low and medium voltage systems, including switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, and panel boards, to develop cost-effective mitigation solutions.
Prepare and deliver comprehensive study reports and technical recommendations to clients.
Perform field data collection, interpret electrical drawings, and review new construction documentation.
Develop relay protective setpoints, update one-line and three-line diagrams, and create wiring schematics.
Lead small to medium projects independently, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical standards.
Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to coordinate project activities and deliverables.
Support the development of arc flash mitigation designs and implementation strategies.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in power system studies and electrical analysis.
Strong proficiency with SKM Power Tools; experience with ETAP or Easypower preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly to clients.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and accountability.
