Chevron USA - Marine is currently seeking a Utility/Messman to join its US Flag fleet of seagoing vessels. This is an on-site, entry-level position in the Galley Department, reporting to the Steward and Chief Mate. The Utility/Messman is essential in ensuring clean, sanitary, and efficient living and dining environments aboard Chevron’s marine vessels. This position is ideal for candidates looking to build a maritime career with a reputable, safety-conscious global energy leader.

The role primarily involves providing hotel-style support services to vessel crew, focusing on cleaning, meal support, and housekeeping. The Sailors’ Union of the Pacific represents all unlicensed personnel in this position, and work is performed on board US Flag vessels, generally in 90-day rotations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, including cleaning staterooms, public areas, and passageways.

  • Manage ship linen supplies and ensure trash collection protocols are followed.

  • Assist with meal service and clean-up in galley and mess areas.

  • Wash, stow, and stock dishes and steward supplies.

  • Maintain hygiene and sanitation across all steward areas.

  • Participate in all shipboard emergency drills and uphold safety practices at all times.

  • Contribute actively to safety meetings and emergency response activities.

  • Cooperate effectively with crew members and maintain professional conduct under pressure.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Fully engage in monthly safety drills and meetings.

  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices.

  • Participate in emergency response teams when needed.

  • Must stop work if conditions become unsafe.

Required Certifications & Credentials:

  • Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Document with Food Handling and VPDSD endorsements.

  • USCG/STCW Medical Certificate.

  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

  • Basic Training Certificates as per STCW requirements.

  • Valid U.S. Passport.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Additional Details:

  • Assignment Duration: 90-day rotations typical for unlicensed personnel.

  • Vacation Accrual: 25 days per 30 days of work.

  • Relocation: Not offered.

  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available.

  • Hourly Compensation: $21.45 per hour.
