Position Summary: Performs general Environmental Services (EVS)/Housekeeping and other assigned labor tasks related to the operation and upkeep of the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center (hereby referred to as “The Max”). Cleans and maintains DSO buildings/facilities. Is knowledgeable of the procedures and safety measures in these areas. Relies on instructions, pre-established guidelines, experience, and judgment to perform the required functions of the job. Performs a variety of tasks related to the upkeep of the overall venue.

Specific Responsibilities:
 

  • Vacuum, dust, and wet mop all floor spaces throughout Orchestra Hall, the Cube, practice rooms, public areas, offices, etc. throughout the Max. Cleans carpets in all areas of the Max as assigned. Dusts and cleans seats throughout Orchestra Hall as assigned.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, dressing rooms, and locker rooms, including counter tops, sinks, urinals, showers, mirrors, light fixtures and toilets. Replenish paper supplies (towels, etc.) in restrooms as needed.
  • Cleanse and sanitize counter tops, mirrors, light fixtures, and walls throughout the Max areas as needed. Clean all windows, ledges, moldings, frames, and furniture throughout the center as needed.
  • Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and clean receptacles in restrooms, offices, lounges, and other public areas.
  • Pick-up trash around exterior of building. Remove debris from grounds, sidewalks, parking lots and other related properties of the Max.
  • Stock, clean, and inventory supply storage areas.
  • As scheduled by the EVS Manager, provide EVS support to Front of House management during DSO performances and third-party facility rentals and other activities. Set up equipment/furnishings for special event functions.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned.
     

Specific Work /Hours: Hours may be assigned using any combination of week and weekend hours (morning, afternoons, evenings, and nighttime hours). Overtime will be required periodically, including evening show assignments, as scheduled.

Required Qualifications:
 

  • 2 years’ experience in environmental services and/or housekeeping.
  • Strong communication skills and experience interacting professionally with a variety of people. EVS Techs will interact with patrons, DSO staff and musicians, guest artists, students, etc.
  • Ability to act independently, take initiative, and meet changing priorities.
  • Successful experience working in, and contributing to, a collaborative, team environment.
