Equipment Operator

Description:

Hepaco, a Clean Harbors company, is looking for a skilled Equipment Operator / Class A CDL Driver with Hazmat & Tanker endorsement to join their Richmond, VA team. This role involves operating various types of heavy equipment, including backhoes, heavy-duty cranes, forklifts, and track hoes, while ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

This position plays a critical role in supporting emergency response operations, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous materials handling, contributing to the company's mission of maintaining sustainability and cleaning the Earth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, crane, forklift, or track hoe safely and efficiently.

• Conduct pre-operational inspections and complete daily checklists.

• Secure containers using chock blocks, jack stands, and ensure proper waste tracking.

• Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.

• Maintain accurate documentation and submit all required paperwork for waste movement tracking.

• Participate in emergency response activities on a rotating on-call basis.

• Ensure compliance with U.S. DOT and corporate safety procedures.

• Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handle hazardous materials as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat & Tanker endorsements.

• Previous experience operating heavy machinery (backhoe, crane, forklift, track hoe).

• Ability to perform physical job functions.

• Successful completion of background check, drug test, and physical (as required).

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Must meet OSHA Respiratory Protection standards for facial hair (where applicable).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in Hazmat/Tanker operations.
