Description:
SpaceX, founded with the mission to revolutionize space exploration and enable human life on Mars, is seeking skilled and motivated Facilities Technicians to join its Texas operations. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth functioning, safety, and maintenance of facilities that support cutting-edge aerospace engineering and manufacturing activities.
As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of building maintenance and repair tasks to maintain a safe, functional, and efficient working environment across SpaceX facilities. This role demands strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and a safety-first mindset. You will be directly supporting SpaceX’s mission by ensuring operational readiness of its infrastructure and contributing to a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine building maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and non-technical troubleshooting.
Conduct site-wide facility maintenance such as painting, wall patching, replacing ceiling/floor tiles, and repairing carpets.
Inspect and repair site interiors and exteriors, including walls, floors, fixtures, lighting, and roofing systems.
Provide support to janitorial and hospitality teams with moving furniture, equipment, and setting up/tearing down special event spaces.
Manage campus-wide operations and maintenance programs as assigned by facilities management.
Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts when required.
Track and resolve maintenance requests using SpaceX’s electronic work order system.
Consistently follow all safety guidelines and protocols while performing duties.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalency certificate.
Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Background in construction, project management, equipment maintenance, and tenant improvements.
Experience with plumbing systems, pumps, backflows, lift stations, and sewer machines.
Knowledge of concrete forming, pouring, and repair.
Familiarity with engineering and construction principles, codes, and methods.
Experience with industrial compressed air systems.
Skills in carpentry, drywall installation/repair, painting, texturing, window/door replacement, and cabinet/countertop installation.
Ability to read instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, or project tracking software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Safety training in forklifts, lifts, cranes, hoists, and fall protection equipment.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work all shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Valid Texas driver’s license.
Physically capable of lifting up to 35 lbs. unassisted and performing tasks involving climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and working at heights up to 300 feet.
Must be eligible to meet ITAR regulations (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive hourly wage: $20 – $25 per hour (approx. $3,467 – $4,333 per month).
