Fibrosis Research

Description:

Randstad is seeking a Biologist III to join a cutting-edge fibrosis research team in Cambridge, MA. This contract position involves contributing to in vitro model development and high-impact assay work. The ideal candidate will have expertise in primary cell culture, molecular biology techniques (such as ELISA, qPCR, RNAseq), and complex co-culture/3D systems. The role is perfect for someone with 5+ years of experience in an academic or industry setting who is passionate about translational science in a dynamic biotech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and optimize primary cell culture and complex in vitro models (e.g., co-culture, Transwells, 3D/organoid systems) to support fibrosis research

  • Perform molecular biology assays, including qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot, RNAseq, and flow cytometry for sample analysis and biomarker evaluation

  • Design and execute pharmacological treatments using small/large molecules and siRNAs to assess therapeutic effects

  • Maintain accurate lab records and electronic notebooks, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal standards

  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to the team, contributing to project planning and scientific discussions

  • Collaborate across a highly matrixed team to support assay development, model validation, and cross-functional research efforts

  • Follow aseptic techniques and lab best practices to ensure reliability and reproducibility of experimental results

Qualifications:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. with no sponsorship required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Bioengineering, or a related field

  • 5+ years of hands-on lab experience in an academic or industry setting (Master's degree may count toward experience)

  • Strong proficiency in primary cell culture, especially with fibroblasts, epithelial cells, and macrophages

  • Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot, and flow cytometry

  • Experience conducting pharmacological treatments using small/large molecules or siRNAs

  • Solid data analysis skills, including statistical interpretation and familiarity with lab software tools

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with complex in vitro models (e.g., organoids, microfluidic/chip systems, tissue explants)

  • Exposure to RNA sequencing (RNAseq) workflows

  • Prior experience working in a highly collaborative, matrixed research environment

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present data in team meetings

  • Background in assay development or model internalization projects

Salary & Benefits:

  • $45.00 - 51.45 per hour

  • Randstad offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, an incentive and recognition program, and 401K contribution (based on eligibility)
