Description:

Penn State Health – Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and organized Part-Time Host/Hostess to join the Main Kitchen team. This role is ideal for individuals looking to contribute to a healthcare environment that values service, teamwork, and patient care excellence.

As part of the Food Services team, the Host/Hostess plays a key role in ensuring that patients receive the correct meals according to their dietary needs, while also providing warm, attentive service. The position includes a weekends-only schedule, with opportunities to work flexible shifts that may include evening and night hours.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Electronically receive, review, and process patient diet orders, menus, and diet requests for assigned hospital units.

  • Correct patient menus to match prescribed diets and assist patients with meal selections at their bedside.

  • Deliver meals, snacks, and special requests to patient rooms while ensuring dietary accuracy and patient satisfaction.

  • Pick up trays, dishes, and other food service items promptly after meal periods.

  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, dietary teams, and patients to ensure smooth food service operations.

  • Serve as a liaison between Nursing, Food Services, and patients, maintaining professionalism and empathy in all interactions.

  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in food delivery and handling areas.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification(s):

  • No prior experience necessary – full training provided.

Preferred Qualification(s):

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multitask and provide patient-centered service in a healthcare environment.
