Food Service Worker

 

Description:

Eckerd Connects is seeking a compassionate and reliable Food Service Worker to support their Potomac Job Corps program in Washington, DC. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk youth by contributing to their nutrition and well-being within a residential career training program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping standards in kitchen and dining areas

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food, coordinating with cooks on meal planning and inventory management

  • Prepare beverages such as coffee, tea, and assist with salads and dressings

  • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes and utensils

  • Clean kitchen equipment and ensure work areas remain safe, sanitary, and orderly

  • Restock napkin dispensers, silverware, salt and pepper shakers, and condiment supplies as needed

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain proper hygiene practices


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred 3 to 6 months of food preparation training or related experience in food service

  • Must possess or be able to obtain ServSafe food safety certification

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record preferred

  • Required to pass a drug screening according to Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible hours including some weekends

  • Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification

  • Well-developed personal cleanliness and hygiene habits

  • Ability to relate effectively to trainee population and work collaboratively with staff across departments

  • Capable of operating office equipment and maintaining effective workplace relationships
