Description:
Eckerd Connects is seeking a compassionate and reliable Food Service Worker to support their Potomac Job Corps program in Washington, DC. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk youth by contributing to their nutrition and well-being within a residential career training program.
Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping standards in kitchen and dining areas
Assist in the preparation and serving of food, coordinating with cooks on meal planning and inventory management
Prepare beverages such as coffee, tea, and assist with salads and dressings
Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes and utensils
Clean kitchen equipment and ensure work areas remain safe, sanitary, and orderly
Restock napkin dispensers, silverware, salt and pepper shakers, and condiment supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain proper hygiene practices
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred 3 to 6 months of food preparation training or related experience in food service
Must possess or be able to obtain ServSafe food safety certification
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record preferred
Required to pass a drug screening according to Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible hours including some weekends
Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification
Well-developed personal cleanliness and hygiene habits
Ability to relate effectively to trainee population and work collaboratively with staff across departments
Capable of operating office equipment and maintaining effective workplace relationships
