Forklift Operator

Description:

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Forklift Operator working the day shift (7 AM to 7 PM) with rotating weekends at their Wellsville, PA location. This role is essential in safely and efficiently transporting materials using a forklift, a powered industrial truck equipped with forks or platforms designed for lifting and carrying heavy objects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate forklift controls to move the truck and lifting apparatus.

• Position forks or lifting devices under, over, or around pallets, skids, boxes, extrusions, or logs and transport loads to designated areas.

• Unload and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device.

• Load and unload trucks as required.

• Perform housekeeping duties such as emptying trash containers and scrap hoppers, sorting alloys 6061 from 6063.

• Assist saw crews by placing empty baskets on wheels.

• Load/unload heat treat ovens and transport metals between departments.

• Follow procedures to start Age Ovens, monitor cycles, and maintain proper documentation.

• Maintain forklift in safe working condition, report defects, and complete preventive maintenance paperwork.

• Replace propane bottles for forklift refueling and properly store empty bottles.

• Ensure aisles are clear and the plant remains neat and orderly.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Must have at least one year of forklift operation experience or equivalent training.

• Ability to read safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and manuals.

• Basic math skills to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with American measurement units.

• Must successfully complete and pass a Forklift Operators Safety course and hold a valid Forklift License.

• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

• Regular attendance is required.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
