Description:

House of Amos Inc, a 501c3 charitable organization located in the Alief area of Houston, TX, is seeking a Grant Writer to support its mission of relieving hunger, keeping people in their homes, and improving the lives of people in need. The organization provides services through its emergency food pantry, financial assistance for rent and utilities, and ESL classes for adults, funded entirely by individual supporters, foundations, churches, schools, and businesses.

The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for the organization’s programs and initiatives. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and plays a key part in maintaining accurate records of submissions and outcomes, as well as communicating effectively with the Board.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission.

• Write and submit grant requests to potential funders to increase income for programs and services.

• Maintain accurate records of grant submissions and outcomes.

• Communicate regularly and effectively with the Board of Directors.

• Submit weekly activity reports to keep the Board apprised of activities, accomplishments, and progress.

Qualifications:

• Excellent writing, attention to detail, and accuracy in written work.

• Strong management, organizational, and multitasking skills.

• Effective communication and relationship-building skills.

• Proficiency with Google Sheets and Google Docs.

• Ability to work independently while also being a team player.

• Creativity and a positive mindset aligned with the organization’s values.

• Passion for helping people in need.

• Persuasive writing skills with proven success in grant writing.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $28.50 per hour for 20 hours per week (Monday through Friday).

• 5 days of paid time off after one year of employment.

• Performance reviewed quarterly by the Board of Directors.
