Description:

Roux Associates, Inc., a leading provider of integrated environmental services for investigation, remediation, and redevelopment of environmentally challenged properties, is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join its Buffalo, NY office. This role involves working on environmental remediation and redevelopment projects across Western New York, supporting the region’s growth while ensuring safe and efficient equipment operations.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating a variety of heavy machinery including excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, bulldozers, skid steers, and dump trucks, while adhering strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations. This position is ideal for candidates who are self-motivated, reliable, and eager to contribute to Buffalo’s redevelopment and environmental progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely and proficiently operate heavy equipment including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, graders, loaders, and other construction machinery.

  • Operate dump trucks and other vehicles as needed for project support.

  • Follow health and safety protocols, company standards, and project requirements to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Perform duties with minimal supervision and maintain high productivity.

  • Cooperate with team members to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.

  • Be available for occasional weekend work and overtime as required.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating construction equipment.

  • Valid and clean driver’s license; CDL Class A or B strongly preferred.

  • High school diploma or Associate’s technical degree required.

  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and proactive after training.

  • Experience on environmental remediation or commercial development projects is highly desirable.

Physical Demands & Work Conditions:

  • Must pass company-paid baseline and periodic health physicals, drug screenings, and motor vehicle checks.

  • Good vision, hand-eye coordination, and physical strength required.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and walk on sloped terrain.

  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
