Waste Industries, operating as part of GFL Environmental, is seeking dedicated and physically capable Helpers to support drivers in the collection and disposal of solid waste materials. This role involves working in an outdoor environment for most of the day, often under varying weather conditions, to ensure timely and safe waste collection services for residential customers. Helpers will be responsible for loading waste into collection vehicles, sorting recyclables, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. They will assist drivers in backing up and maneuvering vehicles in tight spaces, operate compaction equipment, and perform daily equipment checks before departure. The position requires lifting heavy loads of up to 65 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance, maintaining cleanliness of vehicles, and assisting with warehouse and yard duties when needed. Candidates should be able to read, write, and follow instructions with minimal supervision. While a high school diploma and prior experience are preferred, they are not mandatory. The role demands physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to maintain professional conduct while interacting with customers and the public.
