This role is central to covering the dynamic housing market of Central Indiana, focusing on the wide range of housing-related issues that matter to readers, including affordable housing, market trends, urban development, and real estate transformations.
The selected candidate will work in a competitive yet collaborative newsroom, contributing to impactful journalism that informs and empowers the community. Reporting will include breaking housing news, investigating market shifts, and uncovering unique enterprise stories that competitors do not have. Coverage may involve analyzing affordable housing shortages, examining potential solutions for homelessness, and highlighting luxury suburban developments.

Utilize audience analytics to identify and pursue high-interest stories.
Capture photos and record video/audio content as part of field reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Minimum 2 years of professional journalism experience.
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced newsroom.
Proven track record of audience engagement and innovative storytelling.
Strong command of AP style, solid news judgment, and adherence to media law and journalism ethics.
Photography and multimedia skills (video/audio) preferred.
Dedication to fair, compassionate, and sensitive reporting.
