Reporting will include breaking housing news, investigating market shifts, and uncovering unique enterprise stories that competitors do not have. Coverage may involve analyzing affordable housing shortages, examining potential solutions for homelessness, and highlighting luxury suburban developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cover breaking news related to housing and urban growth in Central Indiana.

• Report on significant housing developments, affordable housing challenges, and trends in the real estate market.

• Produce well-researched enterprise stories and in-depth analyses on housing policies and community impacts.

• Collaborate with colleagues covering city hall, growth and development, and community beats.

• Utilize audience analytics to identify and pursue high-interest stories.

• Capture photos and record video/audio content as part of field reporting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

• Minimum 2 years of professional journalism experience.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced newsroom.

• Proven track record of audience engagement and innovative storytelling.

• Strong command of AP style, solid news judgment, and adherence to media law and journalism ethics.

• Photography and multimedia skills (video/audio) preferred.

• Dedication to fair, compassionate, and sensitive reporting.
