Description:
This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions.
- Mask off components such as valves, trucks, couplers, or areas of the surface not to be sprayed.
- Select coatings following work specifications and prepares equipment for spraying.
- Mixes coating according to specifications and applies the coating to install or repair a section of a coating using airless spray equipment to the exterior of a tank car.
- Cleans and maintains spraying equipment.
- Apply decals as required to the tank or hopper car exterior.
- Inspects finished product for overall quality and follow established safety procedures.
- Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or pass a Combined Basic Skills Test
- Experience or knowledge in the use of painting/blasting tools, not limited to paint guns, sanding tools, material blasters, grinding tools, etc.
- Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently
- Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and assembly instructions
- Safety and quality focused
- Willingness to wear required PPE at all times and always work safely.
- Be available to work any shift, and be dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime, as allowed per the union contract
