Information Systems Security Officer

Kentro (formerly IT Concepts, Inc.) is seeking a highly experienced and security-focused Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead cybersecurity efforts for a major Zero Trust (ZT) initiative supporting the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). This is an on-site full-time role based in Tampa, FL, providing strategic leadership and risk management for secure system development and operations.

This position directly aligns with the DoD 8140 ISSM (Work Role ID: 722) at the Intermediate level and requires a strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity frameworks, project leadership, and Zero Trust Architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead development and execution of the Zero Trust Implementation Plan (Iplan) for both Greenfield and Brownfield SOF environments under USSOCOM.

• Oversee delivery within tight timelines (7-week surge) and long-term implementation goals.

• Manage and mentor a team of 8+ technical personnel.

• Coordinate extensively with government stakeholders, partners, and internal/external teams to ensure project alignment with DoD Zero Trust goals (91 target activities by FY27 and 61 advanced activities by FY33).

• Utilize tools like Leidos ZTRL and CACI ZT Playbook for assessments and framework application.

• Develop risk, compliance, and security assurance monitoring methods.

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation including BOMs, transition plans, IPRs, and training materials.

• Support IT operational processes and SCRM integration.

• Lead stakeholder briefings, risk registers, and technical updates.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity-focused IT project management.

• Certifications: CISSP or CISM
  Alternative: PMP and ITIL v4 Foundation plus CompTIA Security+ CE or higher (CySA+, CASP+).

• Extensive knowledge of:

  • Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and DoD cybersecurity policies

  • Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM)

  • Networking concepts, protocols, cloud (SaaS/IaaS/PaaS), and secure acquisition

  • System lifecycle management and performance optimization

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with proven stakeholder engagement ability.

• Experience with SOF/USSOCOM/DoD projects is a significant plus.
