Investment Associate

Carter Wahlberg is hiring a skilled Investment Associate to join their New York City team within a leading infrastructure investment firm specializing in structured minority investments. The firm focuses on flexible capital solutions in core+ infrastructure assets, utilizing preferred equity, co-investments, and joint ventures to support portfolio growth.

This role offers a unique chance to work in a lean team with significant deal ownership earlier in transactions compared to mega-funds, investing in resilient, inflation-linked, long-duration infrastructure assets in sectors such as energy, transport, and digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead deal execution by evaluating and executing minority investments ranging from $20M to $200M in renewables, infrastructure, and utilities

• Build detailed financial models including discounted cash flow (DCF) and leveraged buyout (LBO) models for brownfield assets in partnership with sponsors

• Conduct comprehensive commercial and financial due diligence with an emphasis on downside risk mitigation and upside potential identification

• Provide ongoing portfolio support by monitoring asset performance and collaborating with management teams on strategic initiatives

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure M&A (preferably investment banking) or infrastructure private equity/credit (sell-side experience preferred)

• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling techniques such as DCF, LBO, and accretion/dilution analyses

• Strong sector knowledge in energy, transportation, or digital infrastructure sectors

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate investment theses clearly and work effectively within a small, agile team environment
