Locum Hospitalist Pediatric Physician

Description:

Aya Locums is seeking a Locum Hospitalist Pediatric Physician for an immediate assignment in Washington, DC, offering highly competitive hourly compensation of $185 to $205. This is a 6-week locum tenens role within an acute care hospital setting, designed for physicians who are dedicated to providing comprehensive and high-quality inpatient care for pediatric patients.

The Hospitalist Pediatric Physician will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge. Duties will include conducting thorough medical assessments, formulating treatment plans, ensuring continuity of care, and coordinating with specialists for complex cases. Physicians will perform daily rounds, update medical records, respond to emergency situations, and provide clear communication to patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and ongoing care needs.

This role also requires performing procedures such as intubations and central line placements when necessary, particularly in facilities without a designated critical care physician. Hospitalists will work closely with case managers, social workers, and other medical professionals to ensure smooth discharge planning and safe patient transitions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive care for hospitalized pediatric patients.

• Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care.

• Document all clinical encounters accurately in the EMR.

• Conduct daily rounds, assess progress, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.

• Respond swiftly to emergencies with appropriate medical interventions.

• Perform advanced procedures when required.

• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans and expectations.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong expertise in internal medicine and pediatrics.

• Ability to make quick and sound medical decisions in high-pressure environments.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Adaptability to new clinical environments and teams.

• Ability to handle a high patient load efficiently.

Education Requirements:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

• Completed residency training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine accredited by ACGME or AOA.

Licenses & Certifications:

• Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (ABIM or AOBIM).

• Active and unrestricted medical license in the District of Columbia.

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Work Schedule:

• Shift: 4 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:00).

• Coverage: Scheduled shifts, no on-call duty.

Contract Length: 6 weeks
