Description:

The Machine Operator will play a crucial role in setting up, operating, and maintaining production equipment to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward maintaining quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate all production machinery and equipment as required.

  • Perform changeovers and make necessary adjustments to maintain continuous product flow.

  • Conduct routine process control and quality checks to ensure consistent product standards.

  • Operate date coders and verify code dates on cases for product accuracy.

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with GMP and Safety Guidelines.

  • Clean and sanitize equipment following current sanitation practices.

  • Support Quality Assurance in collecting product samples and performing other related duties.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs on production equipment.

  • Accurately complete daily production reports and documentation.

  • Train and mentor new associates in operational procedures.

  • Participate actively in production improvement and associate involvement initiatives.

  • Adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate flexibility under pressure.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).

  • Computer literacy and ability to operate production-related software (knowledge of Rich’s SCADA system preferred).

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a self-directed team.

  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills under pressure.

  • Commitment to quality, efficiency, and safety.


Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate physical activity including walking, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting (up to 55 lbs).

  • Ability to work in high-noise, temperature-variable (cold, heat, humidity) environments.

  • Frequent exposure to bakery ingredients and potentially hazardous equipment or materials.

  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts as needed.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $17.50 – $25.00 (depending on experience, skills, and shift differential).
