Maintenance Technician Powerhouse

Description:

The Boston Beer Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician Powerhouse for its Breinigsville, PA facility to monitor, maintain, and repair 24/7 brewery utility systems. This night-shift role operates on a 2-2-3 schedule and requires high technical competency with boilers, refrigeration, carbon dioxide, compressed air, water conditioning, chemical treatment, waste control, and waste recovery. The role demands operational responsibility, safety focus, and flexibility to work weekends and rotating shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, diagnose, repair, and maintain all brewery utility systems including high-pressure steam boilers, ammonia/glycol refrigeration systems, CO2 systems, HVAC, compressed air systems, water supply, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and fire suppression systems.

• Respond to emergencies, CO2 alarms, and brewery evacuation situations.

• Perform high voltage switchgear operation (69,000 volts) under direct supervision.

• Document utility readings and maintain logs using a computerized maintenance management system.

• Support maintenance and engineering projects, ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems including power transmission equipment, gearboxes, VFDs, and control systems.

• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as verniers, calipers, and depth gauges.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Experience with mechanical equipment installation and repair.

• Knowledge of 480V 3-phase systems, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical protective devices.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.

• Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Ability to be flexible, prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and work collaboratively.

Physical Requirements:

• Pass a pre-employment physical; respirator use may be required.

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly; walk and stand for long periods on concrete, metal, and grated surfaces.

• Climb stairs, elevated platforms, crouch, bend, twist, and reach above head repeatedly.

• Wear required PPE including safety shoes, gloves, facemask, hearing protection, and hard hat.
