Major Gift Officer

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, solicit and steward major donors in the western United States through in-person visits, telephone calls, correspondence, virtual meetings, etc.
  • Preparing written donor communication materials, including reports to donors on the impact of their giving
  • Implement a moves management program to engage and upgrade donors
  • Execute an aggressive prospect identification, outreach and qualification plan
  • Identify prospects from this portfolio for planned gifts
  • Plan and execute donor cultivation events, as appropriate
  • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our Salesforce database and wealth screening tools

Qualifications

  • Proven track record (2+ years) in cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding major gifts ($5,000+) with a donor-centric mentality
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing relationships with key donors, senior staff and volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
  • Experience with development writing, including donor communications and proposals/reports
  • Strategic and creative thinker with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to work independently and as a self-starter
  • Appreciation of and commitment to the mission and values of The Fund for American Studies
  • Knowledge of Salesforce software
