Special Olympics Kansas is seeking Marketing/Communications college students interested in expanding their resume and gaining experience in a variety of roles. As a Marketing & Communications Intern with Special Olympics Kansas (SOKS), you will play a key role in enhancing our storytelling and visual branding. Your focus will be on graphic design and content creation that highlights our athletes, volunteers, and events. You’ll help bring our mission to life through compelling visuals and engaging stories across digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Graphic Design Support: Assist in creating digital and print materials, including social media graphics, event flyers, and promotional materials using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Content Creation: Write engaging content for website articles, social media, and newsletters featuring athlete and volunteer stories.
- Video Production: Capture and edit short-form video content for social media and promotional use, focusing on games, athlete interviews, and volunteer highlights.
- Photography: Take and edit high-quality photos at events to enhance storytelling and promotional efforts.
- Social Media Support: Help develop content calendars, schedule posts, and engage with the SOKS community on social platforms.
- On-Site Event Coverage: Attend SOKS events to gather stories, take photos/videos, and assist with media needs.
Qualifications
- Ideally a Junior or Senior in college residing in Kansas (Kansas City, MO is fine) studying Marketing and Communications, Graphic Design, or a similar role.
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong writing skills with a focus on storytelling and engagement.
- Basic videography and photography skills (experience with editing software like Premiere Pro or iMovie is a plus).
- Familiarity with social media planning tools like Meta Business Suite or Hootsuite.
- Familiarity with creating content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and travel within Kansas for event coverage.
