Marketing & Communications Intern

Description:

Groundswell Community Project, a global leader in trauma-informed surf therapy and community healing, is seeking passionate, creative young changemakers for its Marketing & Communications Internship. This part-time, unpaid internship is tailored for individuals aged 18–24 who are enthusiastic about storytelling, digital creation, and social impact work. Interns will work directly with Groundswell’s communications team to lead digital engagement and storytelling efforts that promote surf and somatic therapy as pathways to mental health and collective liberation.

Interns will gain valuable experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and social media strategy, positioning them for future roles such as Marketing Coordinator, Digital Content Creator, or Communications Associate. The internship includes mentorship, job readiness support, and access to trauma-informed leadership training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Social Media Management: Lead content creation and posting on Instagram (10k+ followers), plan content calendars, design graphics using Canva, and engage with followers through comments and collaborations.

• Email Marketing & Newsletters: Design and send monthly newsletters using MailChimp tailored to different audiences including general supporters, clinicians, and partners.

• Bonus Projects (Optional): Blog and video storytelling, designing event materials, supporting fundraising communications, and contributing to impact reports.
