Network Engineer

Description:

Uniti Group Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Kinetic Engineer III Planning to provide expert support for its Class 4 and Class 5 voice switching networks. The engineer will manage network designs, provisioning, and signaling protocols while delivering next-level technical support to customer provisioning, repair, and operations teams. The role involves participation in market expansion, network growth projects, and procedural documentation, with occasional on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design complex local and long-distance switching networks.

• Perform Line and Trunk side TDM/VoIP provisioning for Class 4 and Class 5 networks.

• Manage system applications supporting voice networks.

• Implement and manage ISDN, SS7 (ISUP, TCAP), and SIP (SIP, SDP, RTP) protocols.

• Support market expansion, rate center additions, and Class 4/5 interconnections.

• Provide next-level technical support for internal teams and escalate as needed.

• Create and maintain procedural documentation.

• Participate in on-call afterhours support and escalations.

• Collaborate with internal provisioning and sales teams for personalized technical solutions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 10 years in complex telecommunications voice switching networks.

• Ability to understand and support complex switching architectures.

• Strong judgment and independent problem-solving skills.

• Excellent technical documentation and clear written communication skills.

• Flexibility and patience in providing unplanned support.

• Ability to communicate effectively and propose process improvements.

Special Concerns:

• Participation in afterhours on-call escalations is required.

• Minimal travel may be required.
