Principal Software Engineer

Description:

Oracle is seeking a skilled Software Developer 4 / Principal Software Engineer to join its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Hardware Development team. This team is re-architecting the provisioning layer to support Oracle’s rapid growth and ensure high-quality cloud infrastructure operations. The role involves developing, automating, and supporting hardware provisioning software, collaborating with geographically distributed teams, and contributing to cloud management solutions.

The successful candidate will work across the full software lifecycle—from architecture and design to implementation, testing, and support. This role includes responsibilities for fleet operations, debugging, triaging issues, monitoring tickets, and authoring runbooks in collaboration with development and support teams.

Responsibilities:

• Support provisioning software stack and fleet operations, including on-call support.

• Debug and triage software and hardware issues.

• Develop test cases, automation scripts, and tools to support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

• Author runbooks in collaboration with development and support teams.

• Contribute to the design and development of secure cloud management software.

• Work in DevOps mode with a focus on continuous integration, testing, and deployment.

Basic Qualifications:

• BA/BS or higher in Computer Science or equivalent.

• 6+ years of professional experience in software/product development.

• Strong expertise in Python, Java, C/C++ (preferred), and Shell scripting.

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems and embedded systems (preferred).

• Experience with software architecture, design, implementation, and support.

• Familiarity with Jenkins, Grafana, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Jira.

• Excellent written and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience writing ETL pipelines and developing dashboards with analytics tools such as Oracle Analytics Cloud.

• Prior experience in cloud computing environments (OCI preferred, Azure or AWS acceptable).

• Familiarity with Agile DevOps, ML/AI tools, and frameworks.
