Description:
The Process Engineer, Customs is responsible for process optimization, digitalization, and automation initiatives for Customs Clearance processes in USA. This role drives measurable improvements in clearance cycle time, quality, compliance, and productivity. The role analyzes current-state customs clearance processes, identifies inefficiencies, and leads the implementation of automated and digital solutions (e.g., RPA, workflow enhancements, system integration improvements, Artificial Intelligence). The Process Engineer partners with country Customs teams, BIT, Operations Excellence, Compliance, and regional GTW leadership to standardize processes, manage projects, and ensure adoption through SOPs, UAT, training, and stakeholder engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify automation opportunities (e.g., RPA, workflow optimization, system bridge enhancements) and collaborate with BIT and country SMEs to develop requirements and support deployment. Develop charters, improvement plans, and ROI-based prioritization models
- Create RPA analyses, process documentation, and test scripts. Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate outputs, and support post-go-live stabilization for new tools and technologies.
- Map end-to-end customs clearance processes, assess bottlenecks, and recommend simplification or standardization opportunities based on complexity, cost, and performance impact.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, control plans, and process standards that ensure consistency, operational excellence, and alignment with global and regional policy.
- Apply project methodologies (timelines, RAID logs, risk assessments) to deliver process improvement initiatives on time and within scope.
- Collaborate with Customs leaders, BIT teams, and country operations to drive adoption of new tools and practices. Prepare training content, conduct workshops, and provide performance feedback loops.
- Utilize analytics to evaluate clearance performance (cycle time, exceptions, automation rates, defect trends). Recommend metric definitions and support development of efficiency reporting.
- Partner with Compliance and BIT to evaluate the impact of regulatory or system changes and support implementation of required process adjustments.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment, adoption, and continuous improvement across the region.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Data/Analytics, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Network Operations, Process Engineering, or continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated background in process mapping, process optimization, or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience supporting digitalization, automation, or RPA-driven improvements preferred.
- Exposure to customs clearance or regulated operational environments is beneficial.
