Description:
William Charles Construction, a proud member of MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure, is seeking a Project Manager to support its Clean Energy & Infrastructure High Voltage Group. This pivotal role focuses on managing substation and transmission line electrical construction projects within the rapidly growing clean energy sector, covering wind and solar markets. The Project Manager will oversee projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring they remain on schedule, within budget, and compliant with safety and quality standards.
This is a traveling role, requiring up to 75% travel (approximately 15 days per month), covering projects primarily across Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois, with potential assignments in any state across the US. A company vehicle and fuel card are provided, along with designated per diem to support living expenses during travel rotations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish site-specific safety requirements in partnership with the safety team, ensuring safety programs and policies are implemented and maintained.
- Develop and execute the Project Execution Plan in coordination with pre-construction and operations teams, addressing contract management, resource planning, procurement, and scheduling.
- Monitor project financial performance, including cost tracking, revenue projections, change orders, under/over-billing, and invoicing.
- Manage procurement of materials and subcontractors, including on-site oversight, progress tracking, invoicing, and cost management.
- Prepare and submit monthly cost-to-complete projections.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-construction planning, reviewing estimates to identify risks, strategies, and opportunities.
- Review and secure any necessary permits or licenses.
- Maintain thorough project documentation (submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, work plans, etc.).
- Serve as the primary communicator with clients, owners, and stakeholders, ensuring effective and professional correspondence.
- Oversee project closeout, ensuring final documentation, invoicing, and retainage release are completed.
- Build strong local marketplace relationships to support business development.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, leadership, and corporate management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (relevant experience may substitute for a degree).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in medium/high voltage substation and transmission line construction.
- Proficiency with Project Management software (Procore, Build2Win, MS Project, P6, HCSS).
- Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read, understand, and manage project contracts.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience managing diverse project teams.
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting and CPM scheduling.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%, with proper licensing for driving company vehicles.
