Venable LLP is seeking a midlevel Real Estate Associate to join its prestigious Real Estate Practice Group in the New York office. This is an opportunity to be part of a team that is actively shaping the legal and physical landscape of New York through impactful and complex real estate transactions.

The team at Venable represents a diverse array of clients, including governmental and quasi-governmental bodies, not-for-profit organizations, private entities, and individuals. Their work spans land use, zoning, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, lending, development, construction, nonprofit governance, joint ventures (LLCs and partnerships), and real estate private equity.

This position is ideal for a creative and collaborative individual who is enthusiastic about developing long-term expertise across the broad transactional real estate spectrum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage in complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, leasing, development, and land use/zoning matters.

• Work closely with public and private sector clients on high-impact projects across New York.

• Provide legal guidance on matters involving title, survey, entity formation, joint ventures, and private equity.

• Participate in the drafting, negotiation, and closing of real estate documents.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address regulatory and developmental challenges.

Requirements:

• Education: Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Bar Admission: Must be admitted and in good standing with the New York Bar.

• Experience:

  • Prior experience at an AmLaw 100 firm or leading real estate boutique preferred.

  • Strong background in transactional real estate; experience in land use, zoning, or development is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with title and survey work is preferred.

• Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication.

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.

  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

Compensation:

• Annual Salary Range: $225,000 to $275,000

• Monthly Equivalent: $18,750 to $22,916

• Bonus: Eligible for annual performance-based bonus
