Description:
Ochsner Health, a leading and nationally recognized healthcare system, is actively seeking experienced Registered Nurses for its Float Pool team. These positions are available on full-time, part-time, and per diem (PRN) bases, offering a flexible working model for nursing professionals looking to make a meaningful impact across various units within the hospital.
In this role, the RN will lead patient care delivery using the nursing process in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The Float Pool RN acts as a role model and team leader, delegating and coordinating care while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and empathy in nursing.
This position is designed for highly motivated and adaptable nurses who thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable rotating across different specialties and care units.
Deliver high-quality patient care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team and effectively communicate updates and care plans.
Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise licensed and unlicensed team members.
Assess patient and family education needs and implement effective teaching strategies.
Adapt care practices to reflect patient diversity, cultural background, and individual needs.
Maintain strict compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
Manage nursing resources efficiently, including human and fiscal resources.
Embrace continuous improvement and actively contribute to strategic goals and nursing innovation.
Document patient care and nursing interventions accurately and in a timely manner.
Required Education: Registered Nurse diploma
Preferred Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
Experience: At least 2 years of recent experience in relevant clinical nursing within acute care or specialty units
Licensure: Active RN license in the state of Louisiana
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by American Heart Association – Required
Clinical Specialty Certification – Preferred
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication
Team collaboration and leadership capabilities
Time management and organizational efficiency
Ability to manage multiple units and varying patient care scenarios
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and standard nursing software
Flexibility to float between departments and adapt to various clinical environments
Must be able to lift 50–100 pounds occasionally and 25–50 pounds frequently
Exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials is routine
Must comply with all healthcare safety standards and protocols
Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and operate in fast-paced hospital settings
Occupational risk for communicable diseases and hazardous medications is present
