Registered Nurse

Description:

Ochsner Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its OLGMC 5C Med Renal unit, specializing in night shifts. The role involves leading and providing patient care within the nursing framework while supporting the interdisciplinary team. The RN will be accountable for quality patient outcomes and must demonstrate sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use the nursing process to deliver patient care effectively.

• Delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members.

• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and other disciplines.

• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources appropriately.

• Utilize data and knowledge to evaluate and promote optimal patient outcomes.

• Foster behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and professional nursing standards.

• Adapt care and communication to patient population needs.

• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Required: Registered Nurse diploma, current RN license in the state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, certification in a clinical specialty area.

• Proficiency in computers, software, and web-based applications.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to demonstrate good judgment and work independently.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

• Frequently exert 10–20 pounds of force; occasionally up to 100 pounds.

• Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential communicable diseases.

• Work in patient care areas with potential exposure to hazardous medications or waste.
