Wilson Elser, a top-ranked U.S. defense litigation law firm with over 1300 attorneys across 43 offices, is seeking a Construction/General Liability Litigation Of Counsel for its Long Island (Garden City, NY) office. This is a full-time, hybrid role designed for a highly experienced attorney who wants to grow in a stable and collaborative environment, with support from a national network and boutique-style office setup.

The firm specializes in defense litigation and holds a strong reputation in general liability, construction law, transportation, and insurance defense. This role involves handling high-impact litigation cases independently while working closely with partners and senior legal teams on complex matters. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage cases independently in areas including general liability, construction litigation (NYS Labor Law), and transportation/trucking defense

• Lead or support litigation from initial investigation through trial, including depositions, discovery, motions, and court appearances

• Collaborate with a team of attorneys and partners on strategic legal projects

• Provide regular updates and legal counsel to clients, ensuring high standards of communication and professionalism

• Participate in mentorship and training opportunities within the firm’s collaborative culture

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

• Active member in good standing with the New York State Bar

• At least 8 years of litigation experience, with emphasis on insurance defense, premises liability, and general liability

• Strong preference for attorneys with first or second chair trial experience

• In-depth knowledge of New York Construction Law (Labor Law 200, 240, 241) preferred

• Experience with OSHA proceedings and regulatory compliance is a plus

• Background in Corporation Counsel or District Attorney’s Office is advantageous

• Tech-savvy and proficient in legal research tools and case management systems

• Excellent project management, communication, and strategic litigation skills

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $170000–$200000 annually (approx. $14166–$16666/month)
