Senior Backend Test Engineer

Description:

nTech Workforce is actively hiring a Senior Backend Test Engineer to support backend automation and ETL testing within a major health insurance data migration project. The role is focused on validating complex data transformations, ensuring integration accuracy, and implementing automated testing in a fast-paced, Agile development environment. This position is remote, but candidates in the Eastern or Central Time Zones, particularly near Reston, VA, will be given priority. Occasional travel to Reston is expected once per quarter for Program Increment (PI) Planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios from the ground up.

• Create complex SQL queries for backend data validation.

• Perform ETL testing and data migration validation (e.g., from DB2 to MongoDB).

• Develop automation scripts using Java, Python, or similar programming languages.

• Conduct API testing and integrate with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborating closely with development and business teams.

• Utilize Jira for defect tracking and test case management.

• Map requirements to test cases ensuring full test coverage and traceability.

• Maintain a strong focus on data accuracy, integrity, and testing best practices throughout the SDLC.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years in backend testing and ETL testing roles.

• Expert in SQL for complex query writing and data validation.

• Proficient in automation scripting with Java or Python.

• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium).

• Strong understanding of RDBMS like DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server.

• Experience in CI/CD integration tools like Jenkins.

• Familiarity with Agile methodology and tools such as Jira.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across large teams.

• Healthcare or health insurance domain experience is essential.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Working knowledge of MongoDB.

• Prior experience with healthcare claims, contracts, or enrollment data.

• Advanced API testing capabilities.
