Senior Estimator

Description:

River City Construction LLC is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Estimator to join its team in East Peoria, IL. The Senior Estimator will play a pivotal role in leading project estimates, managing budgets, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of project cost evaluations. This position is responsible for handling complex estimation tasks and mentoring junior estimators, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of the estimating department.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing estimates for major projects, preparing conceptual and milestone budgets, coordinating with project teams, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and evaluating subcontractor and supplier scopes of work. The role involves close collaboration with executive leadership, operations, design firms, clients, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading all aspects of project estimation, from initial review through competitive bidding phases.

• Preparing conceptual budgets based on limited project information and detailed estimates for complex projects.

• Performing takeoffs, pricing, and comprehensive quantity surveys for construction systems.

• Coordinating with project teams and executives to align on scope, risks, and bidding strategies.

• Reviewing and validating estimators’ work to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

• Participating in project briefings, debriefings, and strategy sessions.

• Maintaining and updating subcontractor/supplier databases and cost history systems.

• Supporting innovation in estimating practices by researching and implementing new technologies and methodologies.

• Mentoring and training junior estimators to enhance departmental capabilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).

• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in construction estimating.

• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, labor productivity, and risk assessment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

• Exceptional organizational skills, time management, professionalism, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Strong communication skills with emotional and social intelligence.

• No specific certifications or licenses required.
