Senior Manager

Description:

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering with expertise in backend development (Java, Python, AWS) to lead technology projects and teams that solve complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative environment. You will drive the development of distributed microservices and full-stack systems aimed at meeting regulatory requirements and delivering cloud-based solutions that empower millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of experienced developers focused on distributed microservices and full-stack systems.

• Stay abreast of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and engage actively in internal and external tech communities.

• Mentor engineers and occasionally contribute to coding or code evaluation.

• Collaborate closely with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud solutions.

• Utilize languages and technologies including Java, Python, SQL, Node.js, Go, Scala, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and AWS tools/services.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

• Minimum 6 years professional software engineering experience (excluding internships).

• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

• Minimum 4 years of people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree.

• 9+ years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.

• 3+ years experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.

• 4+ years experience with open source frameworks.

• 7+ years people management experience.

• 2+ years experience in Agile development practices.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary Range (Chicago, IL): $204,900 – $233,800 annually.
