Description:
Barrington James is seeking a Senior Sales Representative with a biotechnology background to join its dynamic team in the Illinois area. This hybrid position offers a unique opportunity to expand key accounts and develop new business relationships across diverse sectors including industrial, academic, government, and biotech. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical product sales and the ability to communicate value propositions effectively while fostering relationships at all levels of the customer organization.
The role demands a highly motivated, results-oriented sales professional who can execute company strategies, meet annual sales targets, and offer customized solutions to meet client needs. Candidates must be adaptable, tech-savvy, and capable of excelling in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Meet and exceed annual sales targets, implementing company strategies related to systems, pricing, and contracting.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts through consistent communication via phone, email, and meetings.
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments such as Purchasing, Engineering, Laboratory, and Quality to understand and fulfill their requirements.
Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, follow up on quotes, and close deals efficiently.
Coordinate with internal teams like Marketing and Customer Service to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
Maintain records and reports to ensure seamless customer management and sales tracking.
Reactivate dormant accounts and identify high-potential targets.
Provide exceptional account management, including presenting strategies during business reviews.
Engage in product training and vendor meetings to stay current with the product portfolio.
Use catalogs and databases to recommend solutions and alternatives to customers.
Assist customers in purchasing decisions through product research and availability checks.
Travel up to 10% for training and meetings.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred or equivalent experience in the biotechnology sector.
Experience:
Mandatory prior experience working within a biotechnology company.
Minimum of 3–5 years of sales experience (inside/field) or technical product sales.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in MS Office and Excel; database experience is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-driven with a results-oriented approach.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical aptitude.
Capable of multitasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
