Senior Underwriter

Description:

The Senior Underwriter for Contract Surety is responsible for achieving profitable underwriting results aligned with growth and profit objectives by managing risk selection, maintaining agency relations, and overseeing a book of business. Key responsibilities include underwriting new and renewal accounts in compliance with company standards and state regulations, driving profitability through risk analysis and competitive pricing, and delivering exceptional service to clients.

This role involves collaborating with the team lead to develop and implement business plans for the territory, training and coaching territory staff and clients on underwriting protocols, and managing client relationships by traveling within the territory. The Senior Underwriter also supports processing coverage requests and ensures compliance with service guidelines.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of underwriting experience in Contract Surety insurance coverage, risk selection, and pricing.

• Ability to train, coach, and mentor staff and clients.

• Strong organizational, time management, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to travel within the assigned territory and to the home office as needed.
