Shipping And Receiving Supervisor

 

Description:

Responsible for all shipping and receiving functions at the assigned facility on the 2nd shift of the day (as assigned), including but not limited to preparation of goods and fruit for shipping, evaluation of fruit received and shipped, keeping current inventories of fruit and supplies and directing subordinate employees.

 

 

Essential Job Functions: The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Ensure the trucks are loaded in order of arrival at the dock.
  • Load or instruct employees to load each truck and see that variety, size, and count are accurate.
  • Ensure that all bills of lading are filled out completely and signed by truck drivers.
  • Contact local, county, and U.S.D.A. and arrange appointments for required export inspections.
  • Oversee loading of all export containers to make sure T-bars and airbags are installed, and
  • that Phyto and U.S.D.A. inspection reports are sent.
  • Verify pack-out by variety and size.
  • Conduct physical inventory by day code, variety, and size. Verify physical inventory with
  • book inventory.
  • Enter pack-out and inventories into the computer and keep a weekly inventory of pallets and
  • stacking lock strips and placing orders as needed.
  • Distribute copies of pack-out, inventory, and computer printouts to corporate.
  • Send weekly reports to the Manager or Director of the facility of regular and overtime hours for the shipping department.
  • Contact customers for standard and cull sales.
  • Calculate timecards for each pay period.
  • Maintain cleanliness of office and shipping dock areas.
  • Inspect all incoming fruit for quality assurance, and complete appropriate inspection forms.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned or required.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Must be flexible with schedule.
  • Degree preferred but not required and/or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Five+ years experience in shipping and inventory control in the Produce industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Two+ years' of operating a forklift and a pallet jack; forklift certification preferred.
  • Possess highly developed skills in organization, communication (verbal and written; both English and Spanish are required), problem resolution, and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel Outlook); working knowledge of JDE and Kirkey is highly desired.
