The Boys, Girls, Adults Community Development Center (BGACDC) was founded in 1978 by a group of committed parents living in the small Delta town of Marvell, Arkansas. BGACDC aims to improve the overall quality of life for the poor, mainly African American residents of the Marvell-Elaine School District in Phillips County, Arkansas. BGACDC's mission is to build community competency by empowering people to help themselves. BGACDC designed the Delta Family Focus Project to provide capacity-building skills in academic performance, lifelong learning, parental engagement, and civic engagement of families from the Marvell-Elaine School District in Phillips County, Arkansas. The Social Marketing & Board Development VISTA will build the capacity of staff, board members, community stakeholders, and volunteers to support youth and family programs involving rural and community development. This member will assist in developing critical assets to help BGACDC advertise events efficiently, enhance the membership enrollment process, and maintain a successful board committee that will impact the sustainability of the organization as a whole.
