Software Engineer

Description:

CSC Generation, parent company to several prominent retail brands including Sur La Table, is actively seeking a hands-on, technically adept Software Engineer to join their high-performance technology team in Austin, TX. This hybrid role focuses exclusively on maintaining and improving existing systems, rather than developing new features. The selected candidate will be central to ensuring application health, resolving incidents, and enabling smooth operations through real-time troubleshooting and root-cause resolution.

As a Software Engineer in this role, you will work in close collaboration with QA, DevOps, and software development teams. You will act as a guardian of system integrity, proactively monitoring performance, diving deep into issues using diagnostic tools, and creating robust documentation that ensures operational transparency.

This role is ideal for problem-solvers who are detail-oriented, self-driven, and comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments. You will be challenged, empowered, and given visibility across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate, reproduce, and fix frontend and backend issues in a wide-ranging codebase

• Analyze logs, pull requests, and staging environments to identify anomalies and systemic issues

• Collaborate closely with QA, DevOps, and developers to ensure high-quality, smooth deployments

• Monitor system performance using tools such as Splunk, Heap, and AWS Logs

• Take full ownership of production support issues from identification to deployment of solutions

• Maintain and regularly update clear documentation on known issues, fixes, and troubleshooting protocols

• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams during incident management and post-mortems

Qualifications:

• Proven full-stack development experience:

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript

  • Backend: Python

• Strong skills in debugging and troubleshooting across the stack

• Proficient with Git for version control and analyzing code regressions

• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows

• Experienced in writing and executing SQL queries for data validation and debugging

• Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting systems like Splunk, Heap, and AWS logs

• Preferred but not required:

  • Experience in e-commerce or retail technology

  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture and AWS

  • Background in technical support or production system troubleshooting
