Solar Installer Helper

 

Description:

MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure is seeking motivated individuals to join its renewable energy division as Solar Installer Helpers. In this role, you will work alongside experienced Solar Technicians to install and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various structures, supporting the company’s mission to deliver clean and sustainable energy across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation of PV systems in compliance with site plans and schematics

  • Use hand and power tools (drills, impact wrenches, etc.) to install mechanical and structural systems

  • Install structural racking systems and solar panels

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment following a “clean-as-you-go” policy

  • Report accidents, hazards, or unsafe practices to supervisors and use stop-work authority when needed

  • Participate in all safety briefings and job hazard assessments

  • Support and follow lockout/tagout procedures and all site-specific safety training

  • Assist in planning and layout of materials

  • Learn how to inspect installed equipment for safety and operational issues

  • Perform related duties in other trades as needed per project requirements


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Prior experience in construction or as a laborer preferred

  • Basic knowledge of solar PV systems is a plus

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

  • Capability to read and interpret plans and drawings is a plus

Skills & Abilities:

  • Use of basic hand tools and power tools

  • Ability to perform simple math functions accurately

  • Attention to detail, teamwork, and a strong safety mindset

  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the solar construction trade
