Description:
As the Solar Performance Engineer Advisor within ENGIE North America’s Renewable & Flex Power Generation Business Unit, your role involves providing data analytics support within the company’s solar renewables assets across the USA. You will be tasked with improving and optimizing the performance of operational solar sites through advanced analytics, data visualization, and performance indicator reporting. You will develop standards, tools, and processes that elevate fleet performance, coordinate cross-functional and external stakeholders, and translate data into actionable improvements that enhance availability, efficiency, and financial outcomes.
Reporting to the Performance Analytics Manager, your primary duties encompass:
- Develop and maintain tools that monitor over-all performance and availability of the operating fleet (wind, solar, battery storage), with a significant focus on solar assets.
- Develop and implement advanced analytics that proactively identify failure modes and underperformance and provide operations with actionable insights.
- Perform detailed analysis and investigation during equipment failures and other underperformance issues.
- Support data needs during budgeting, spare parts management and other operations tasks.
- Improve KPI (key performance indicator) reporting tools and dashboards with innovative algorithms.
- Set company standards for solar performance and analytics throughout company and with external customers and suppliers
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline, or related field
- Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience in solar performance engineering, energy modeling, or operations analytics for utility-scale assets.
- Experience with data visualization tools and platforms such as Power BI, Grafana, Databricks, etc.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, etc.
- Basic understanding of electrical equipment and calculations
- Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, with a high degree of accuracy
- Be an action-oriented, self-motivator individual who can lead a team, work independently, and has strong organizational and personal skills
- Clear technical communication skills and the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences
- Collaborative mindset with demonstrated experience coordinating external engineers, OEMs, and cross-functional internal teams
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
- Ability to travel to asset facilities
- Proficient in MS OFFICE, Excel, Word, Project Management systems
