Sourcing Manager

Description:

SpaceX, the visionary aerospace company committed to enabling human life on Mars, is hiring a Sourcing Manager, Electronics to join the Starlink Supply Chain team. This role involves managing demand planning and sourcing of electronic hardware for the Starlink satellite constellation. The successful candidate will lead supplier relations, cost management, and sourcing strategies to support production ramp-up in the satellite factory of the future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop sourcing and cost strategies with key suppliers for Starlink hardware.

• Aggregate and pull demand data to provide accurate signals for production needs.

• Lead supplier engagement for Requests for Information (RFI), Proposal (RFP), and Quotation (RFQ) processes.

• Collaborate internally to evaluate supplier bids and execute sourcing decisions.

• Manage aggressive cost control to adhere to budgets using should-cost modeling.

• Ensure suppliers support prototype builds, ramp-up, and mass production effectively.

• Drive process improvements internally and with suppliers to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

• Present value propositions to executives, covering contracts, cost reviews, and supply risks.

• Develop and maintain strong supplier partnerships.

• Use analytical tools to monitor supplier performance.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or 7+ years without degree.

• Experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, supply chain, or material planning.

• Technical procurement experience with PCB, PCBA, or electrical components.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience in electronic component manufacturing or procurement.

• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.

• Production purchasing experience preferred.

• Proficient with MS Office, SQL, Access, or similar analytical tools.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Ability to learn quickly, prioritize, and meet business needs.

• Experience reading datasheets, drawings, and blueprints.

• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to work irregular hours across global time zones.

• Willingness to travel up to 30%, including short and extended trips.

• Work onsite in Redmond, WA — remote work is not available.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary range: $110,000 - $145,000 annually.
