Staff Accountant

Description:

A well-established, statewide non-profit organization based in Sacramento, CA is actively seeking a Staff Accountant to join their dedicated finance team. The organization, while operating on a local scale, is committed to serving and advocating for the needs of career firefighters, with a mission to enhance their personal and professional lives.

This direct-hire role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing two remote workdays per week following the completion of onsite training. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations and reporting functions of the organization, working collaboratively with the Senior and Lead Accountants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and cash reports

• Maintain financial records and manage general ledger accounts

• Generate journal entries and create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Perform account analyses and prepare reconciliations for balance sheets and income statements

• Oversee and review cash receipts, billing (A/R), and accounts payable (A/P) reports

• Assist in the preparation of statutory, compliance, and audit-related documents

• Conduct financial and ad hoc reporting and analyses

• Support special projects and provide assistance to Senior and Lead Accountants

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting and financial statement preparation

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general PC use

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent time management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities

• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines

• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding financial data
