Startup Operations

Description:

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an Operations Shift Supervisor (OSS) for the ML2 project at Kennedy Space Center, responsible for the startup and initial operations of all permanent plant equipment and systems from Commissioning completion until Substantial Completion and handover to NASA. The OSS will coordinate with construction and CSU leads to ensure safe, efficient startup procedures are followed. This role demands flexibility, including split shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Operate local and control room panels, generate operating reports

• Perform electrical and mechanical system lineups for operation

• Execute daily briefings and Plan of the Day meetings

• Conduct plant walkthroughs, document operating parameters, and apply lockout/tagout procedures

• Participate in system operability walkdowns

• Support planning for efficient operation and maintenance

• Operate equipment per process design requirements

• Handle plant environmental material handling and emergency response

• Write and enhance startup and operation procedures as needed

• Ensure strict adherence to published startup procedures and manage deviations

• Identify problems and initiate equipment repair documentation

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of industry and regulatory standards

• Demonstrated experience in initial startup & shutdown troubleshooting

• Experience operating pneumatic equipment and systems per design requirements

• Ability to motivate and lead team members in a collaborative environment

• Strong problem-solving skills under high-pressure situations

• Prior experience as a Shift Supervisor, Senior Supervisor, or Commissioning Manager
