Television Programming Manager

VPM is a public media organization serving Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. Our teams produce documentaries, TV series and digital content. The VPM News team produces award-winning journalism for our NPR and PBS stations with distribution across our digital channels to over 2 million people in VPM’s coverage area. VPM Music is home to a 24/7 blend of classical, jazz and world music serving the Richmond region. Additionally, VPM has recently acquired a 40-year-old weekly publication and website, Style Weekly, that covers arts and culture. As an independent, non-profit service, we strive to create and serve a more informed public.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identifies promotion spots weekly.
• Manages inventory and right windows for promotional spots and interstitials.
• Generates logs and provides error reports weekly for underwriting placement of missing media.
• Schedules interstitial and promotion spots for VPM main stations in Richmond as well as other logs, as needed.
• Proofs and manages the export of all broadcast logs working with other programming staff and broadcast operations.
• Provides support and backup to Programming Director.
• Assists with providing programming changes to the schedule and communicates changes to listings vendors.
• Responds to audience inquiries.

REQUIREMENTS

• 
  High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred.
• Two years working in broadcast scheduling, programming, or related experience; public media experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience with Protrack software strongly desired.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet stringent deadlines.
• Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.
• Possesses a professional demeanor and excellent phone presence.
• Self-motivated, accurate, and well-organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work closely with a variety of people.
• Possesses keyboard proficiency.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database.
