Description:
This Underwriter role at AIG offers an excellent next step for candidates with insurance experience or those with transferable skills looking to enter underwriting. The position is focused on underwriting new and renewal business within the Financial Lines division, including areas such as Directors & Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Professional Liability (PTL), Cyber, and Fidelity.
The role requires strong relationship management with brokers, assessing risks through broker contact, claims history reviews, and company information analysis. Generating new business by expanding broker networks and attending broker events is an important component. Providing accurate monthly management reporting on submissions, bind rates, and premiums is also essential.
Underwrite new and renewal business to support profitable growth in Financial Lines.
Assess risk desirability through broker interaction and detailed claims and company data reviews.
Maintain and expand broker relationships by proactive, timely, and consistent service.
Support sales plans by attending broker events and building market relationships.
Provide monthly management information including submission volume, bind rate, average premium, and total premium.
Some commercial underwriting or brokerage experience preferred, but transferable professional experience also welcomed.
Working knowledge of US Financial Lines products (D&O, EPL, PTL, Cyber, Fidelity), product features, forms, regulatory environment, and risk factors.
Ability to analyze financial statements.
Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
Good organizational and time management capabilities.
Motivated, tenacious, sales-oriented, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable behaviors.
The role is primarily in-office as AIG values in-person collaboration.
