Warehouse Material Handler

Description:

Builders FirstSource, America’s largest supplier of building materials, value-added components, and construction services, is seeking a Material Handler Warehouse to join its Tampa, FL team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials within the warehouse and production areas, contributing directly to the success of construction supply operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely handle, lift, carry, and stack construction materials and finished products to optimize workflow and minimize delays.

• Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment (some requiring specialized training).

• Follow instructions from supervisors and experienced handlers to enhance operational knowledge.

• Adhere strictly to safety protocols, attend regular safety meetings, and recommend improvements to ensure a hazard-free environment.

• Maintain organization and cleanliness of warehouse areas.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Work is conducted in a production/warehouse setting with temperature fluctuations, exposure to dust, mechanical parts, and occasional contact with hazardous chemicals.

• Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 80 pounds.

• Tasks may involve climbing, kneeling, and pushing heavy loads.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Basic knowledge of safety procedures in material handling.

• Ability to operate or learn to operate warehouse equipment.

• Manual dexterity and the ability to follow clear written or verbal instructions.
