Description:

Cogent Communications, a leading global Tier 1 ISP publicly traded on NASDAQ (CCOI), is seeking a skilled PHP Developer to design, develop, and maintain multiple in-house business applications supporting Corporate Sales, Operations, Finance, and other departments. The role involves working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, create proofs-of-concept, and implement fully functional applications.

Under the guidance of the technical lead, responsibilities include coding, testing, debugging, and deploying software solutions, maintaining existing PHP and Java applications, integrating platforms via APIs, and producing clear technical documentation and user guides. The role also requires collaboration with project leads to define sprints, design optimized code, conduct integration and testing, and provide enhancements and bug fixes for applications in operations and maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years of PHP web development experience.

  • 2+ years of experience with the Laravel Framework.

  • 2+ years of experience with MySQL and/or MSSQL.

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Experience in all phases of SDLC, OO analysis and design, and revision control systems.

  • Ability to interact with end-users, gather requirements, and provide feedback in non-technical language.

  • Strong documentation, presentation, and technical writing skills.

  • Outstanding customer service, time management, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • At least 2 years of Computer Science college education or equivalent studies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting/stationary position.

  • Continuous desk-based computer tasks and screen viewing.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per year (~$7500 - $8333 per month).
