Key Responsibilities:

Manage and execute technical lobbying and industry coordination on behalf of United Airlines in the areas of NextGen integration, Air Traffic Control, Airport/Airspace Capacity, Operational Efficiency, and Airfield Construction by engaging in industry related forums that include FAA, DOT, and multiple Airport Operators. Provide leadership, expertise, and guidance on surface movement and airspace complexities.

  • Handle interaction, conduct and attend briefings with multiple FAA Lines of Business including, but not exclusive to Systems Operations, Air Traffic, and Program Management
  • Represent United on the Next Gen-related task forces and North East Corridor workgroup
  • Manage and execute interaction, conduct and attend briefings with non-US Air Navigation Service Providers
  • Conduct and attend briefings with various entities to optimize airspace utilization, specialized equipment and procedures to improve operational efficiencies and fuel consumption
  • Conduct and attend briefings with IATA and ICAO to advocate harmonized procedures across international boundaries
  • Represent United in airport construction meetings to minimize impact to airfield operations across the National Airspace System
  • Coordinate and disseminate pertinent information to respective entities in Flight Ops, SOC, NOC and other departments
  • Liaison with SOC, Ramp Tower, and FAA in IAD to optimize operational performance
  • Provide focused attention to United's operations for DC and New York metro inter-connectivity

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • BS in Aviation Management or equivalent airline/air traffic experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in Air Traffic Organization interaction and/or operational performance
  • Understanding of airline operations, understanding of air traffic control and traffic flow management, understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations/ICAO Requirements
  • Ability to find opportunities and take action to build strategic relationships between one's area and other teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals
  • Up to 20% travel including international
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
